The 19th edition of the Puig Vela Clàssica Barcelona has come to a close, once again reaffirming its place among the world's leading classic sailing events. Over four days, more than 45 yachts from 12 countries and nearly 400 sailors gathered in Barcelona, transforming the city's coastline into a unique showcase of maritime heritage, sporting excellence and nautical tradition.

Although the opening day was cancelled due to a lack of wind, the Levante breeze provided ideal conditions for the remaining races, delivering close competition across all categories. The fleet featured an exceptional collection of historic yachts, from century-old classics to more recent vessels built according to traditional designs, highlighting the richness and diversity of classic sailing.

This year's edition crowned Hallowe’en, Yanira, Clarionet, Odysseus, Varuna VII, Ándale, Le Temps Perdu and Legolas as winners of their respective categories.

Among the standout performances was Hallowe’en, the legendary 1926 yacht that claimed victory in the Big Boats category. One hundred years after dominating some of the world's most prestigious regattas, the iconic vessel once again demonstrated its remarkable competitive spirit by overturning the standings on the final day to secure the overall title.

In the Classics categories, Yanira claimed the Classics 1 title after a closely contested duel with the French yacht Eugenia V, while Britain's Clarionet secured a commanding victory in Classics 2. Odysseus repeated its winning performance to take the Classic IOR title, while Germany's Legolas topped the Modern Classics category after two consistent races.

The Vintage fleet also delivered exciting competition. Varuna VII claimed victory in Bermudian 1, Ándale stormed to the top of the Bermudian 2 standings after winning the final race, and Le Temps Perdu secured the Gaffer title, highlighting the depth and quality of this year's fleet.

Beyond the racing, the regatta celebrated one of the most remarkable stories in classic sailing through Recluta. Built between 2017 and 2021 from original plans drawn in 1943 by renowned naval architect Germán Frers Sr., the yacht was finally brought to life nearly 80 years later by his son, Germán Frers Jr. Recluta embodies the legacy of three generations of the Frers family and stands as a powerful example of how craftsmanship, innovation and tradition continue to shape the future of classic sailing.

Since its first edition in 2008, the Puig Vela Clàssica Barcelona has established itself as one of the Mediterranean's premier classic sailing regattas, bringing together some of the world's finest historic yachts while celebrating the deep maritime connection between Puig and the city of Barcelona.

As the sails come down on another memorable edition, the Puig Vela Clàssica Barcelona once again demonstrates how sport, history and craftsmanship come together on the Mediterranean, reinforcing Barcelona's position as an international reference for classic sailing and Puig's enduring commitment to preserving this unique nautical heritage.
