Carolina Herrera is a passionate woman, animated by a desire to lead women into refined luxury and elegance.
In order to fulfill that passion and desire, en 1981, at the age of 42, after having raised a family, she decided to present her first fashion collection in New York.

In 1987, Puig signed an agreement with Caroline Herrera for creating and marketing her fragrances: the first perfume born of this agreement would be “Carolina Herrera”, in 1988.

In 1996, to come up with 212, her new fragrance range aimed at young urban women, and aiming to capture and transcribe the spirit of New York, Carolina Herrera was joined by her daughter, Carolina Herrera Junior. The younger woman brought a different attitude, leading the brand to create fragrances that were unique and new, yet maintaining its values of authenticity, emotion, elegance and timelessness.

Over the past 20 years, the launches of the Classics, 212 and CH lines have constituted an uninterrupted flow of international best-sellers: this success has allowed Carolina Herrera to continue to grow and to become a major player in the world of fragrance.

An Iconic Universe, with the classics

Carolina Herrera fragrances are incarnations of the prestige and glamour associated with the house’s name. They are classic scents in the tradition of fine perfumery, constituting what the house calls its Icon Universe.
Carolina Herrera classics correspond to 4 fragrances lines: Carolina Herrera (launched in 1988), Carolina Herrera for Men (1991), Chic (2002) and Chic for Men (2004). These 4 ranges, however different they may be, share a harmonious blend of elegance, sensitivity, prestige and glamour.

Each of them is an expression of the brand’s values, as well as a reflection of Carolina Herrera’s unique personality. So the brand’s first fragrance, Carolina Herrera, is the perfect illustration of the intimate ties between the designer and the products she dreams up. It focuses on jasmine because that is the scent that wafted through her childhood, rising from the garden in the family’s hacienda, La Vega, in Caracas.

It is the same for all the lines in the Icon Universe: more than just a collection of fragrances, more than just perfume, it is a universe of elegance, simplicity, timelessness and grace.

An Urban Universe, with 212

The 212 fragrance line is the first range conceived and developed by Carolina Herrera Junior, in 1996. With the 212 range, Carolina Herrera addresses active, urban, self-confident young men and women who are open to exchanges and to other people. The name 212 is a clear expression of this choice: it’s the area code for Manhattan, a city that’s open to the world, where anything can happen, where anyone can succeed, and where fashion lives and breathes.

So the fragrance itself is fresh, modern, elegant and very feminine. The bottle too is a reflection of the 21st century, which 212 anticipated back in 1996: made of glass and metal; modern, trendy and dynamic, it is actually composed of 2 separate bottles: one to stay home, the other to keep in a bag, going wherever women do.

212’s urban world has developed over the years, with several successful flankers: 212 MEN in 1999, 212 Sexy in 2004 and 212 Sexy Men in 2006. Each of these fragrances is aimed at bold, active, ambitious, motivated and sophisticated men and women: individuals with charisma and personality… just like New York.
